Khalid isn’t the only one showing up for El Paso, Texas.
On Sunday night, Rae Sremmurd, SZA and Lil Yachty were among those who joined the singer for his benefit concert held in support of the victims of the August shooting at a Walmart that killed 22 people.
Khalid, an El Paso-native, hosted and performed at the tribute, dubbed A Night For Suncity, and democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke and actor Matthew McConaughey were also on hand.
Ever since the deadly massacre, the 21-year-old artist has continued to show love for his hometown.
When he first unveiled plans for the benefit, in a statement Khalid said, "I have been rocked to the core by the horrific act of gun violence that came to El Paso, and by the continued acts of senseless violence that our country faces daily. I want to give back to my community of El Paso, the city of the 915, who [which] has given so much to me. Please come out and let's heal together through music while raising money to help those who need it."
The event, which raised money for the El Paso Shooting Victims’ Fund and the El Paso Community Foundation, was jointly presented by Right Hand Foundation, the homelessness-prevention charity run by Khalid's manager, Courtney Stewart, and The Great Khalid Foundation, a youth-focused organization he started with his mother, Linda Wolfe, back in May.
